Comprehensive Home Waterproofing

Water intrusion doesn’t just damage a basement. It weakens the foundation, lowers property value, and creates long-term structural and air quality problems.

At Sump Daddy, we design and install full waterproofing systems for older homes in Washington, DC and nearby Maryland areas.

Every system is built for the specific house—finished basement, crawlspace, or exposed foundation.

How We Approach Waterproofing

We control water at two levels:

  • Before it enters the home (exterior)
  • After it reaches the foundation (interior)

Most homes need a combination of both.

Interior Waterproofing Systems

Interior French Drains
We install perforated pipe below the slab along the perimeter. Groundwater is collected and redirected into a sump basin before it reaches the floor.

Sump Pump Systems
Each system includes a sump basin, Zoeller pump, gravel base, sealed lid, and discharge line to move water away from the house.

Moisture and Vapor Barriers
We install sealed wall barriers and coatings to block seepage and reduce humidity inside the space.

Crack Sealing
Active leaks are stopped using polyurethane or epoxy injection, depending on the condition of the crack.

Exterior Waterproofing Systems

Excavation and Wall Sealing
We excavate down to the foundation, clean the wall, and apply waterproof membrane, elastomeric coating, and drainage board.

Backfill and Grading
We backfill with clean material and correct the grade so surface water moves away from the home.

Built for the Property

No two homes handle water the same way.

We design each system based on:

  • Soil conditions
  • Foundation type
  • Water table and pressure
  • Existing drainage conditions

This is not a standard package. It is built for the site.

What Waterproofing Changes

A proper system does more than stop water.

  • Reduces humidity and mold risk
  • Improves air quality
  • Protects structure and finishes
  • Makes basements usable
  • Supports long-term property value

Experience With DC-Area Homes

We work in older homes with aging foundations, tight lot lines, and poor original drainage.

That requires controlled excavation, careful installation, and systems that work long-term without damaging the structure.
